NEW ALBUM: ALY & AJ | A TOUCH OF THE BEAT GETS YOU UP ON YOUR FEET GETS... (DELUXE)

Sister indie-pop duo Aly & AJ released the deluxe edition of their acclaimed 2021 record, "A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun," which has four new tracks, including the latest single, "Get Over Here." In fact, “Get Over Here” was one of three songs — along with “Paradise” and “Don’t Need Nothing” — that jump-started the entire creative process for what would eventually become "a touch of the beat" way back in December 2019 during a three-day songwriting session in Denver, Colorado. While other songs on the standard edition were inspired by the warmth and storytelling of rock’s female forebears like Nancy Wilson and Melissa Etheridge (both of whom can be found within the album’s liner notes providing background vocals and guitar, respectively, on various tracks), “Get Over Here” found the Michalkas drawing parallels to an entirely different, yet equally influential, female-fronted act. Aly & AJ, also known as Alyson and Amanda Michalka, is a Torrance, California-born group formed in 2004. The duo released their first LP, "Into the Rush," in 2005. "a touch of the beat" is the band’s 4th studio LP and their first in 14 years. Aly & AJ began gaining attention recently because their 2007 song, “Potential Breakup Song,” began tracking TikTok in 2020, receiving over 26 million views for November alone.
