Grammy-winning producer Finneas releases his debut album. "Optimist" is out via Interscope and follows a whopping 23 singles released since 2016. "Optimist" arrives sometime after the 24-year-old, full name Finneas O’Connell, helped a teenage Eilish create the sound that has won multiple Grammys, broken countless industry records, and attracted millions of fans. He produced both her albums, which came out earlier this year and performed with her live shows. When she collected her Grammy for Album of the Year in 2020, before collaborating with Eilish, Finneas played in his band. They released a steady stream of solo material for the past decade. Yet this album feels like the most cohesive and considered statement of who he is, both as an individual and as a solo artist. Stylistically, it has everything: chamber pop, grunge, classical, Latin, rock. Finneas has asserted himself as a talented artist. Where he goes next is up to him. "Optimist" serves as a follow-up to his 2019 EP, "Blood Harmony." In 2020 and 2021, Finneas won multiple Grammys alongside his younger sibling, Billie Ellish, mainly for his work on her album "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" including Record of the Year for "Bad Guy" and "Everything I Wanted," Best Engineered Album, and Producer of the Year.
