The 23-year-old crooner has released his new mixtape titled "Scenic Drive," which has some big hitters including Alicia Keys, 6LACK, Lucky Daye, Quin, JID, Kiana Ledé, Majid Jordan, Smino, and Ari Lennox. “I’m so grateful to have worked with so many amazing/talented artists on this project! Also, I’m so excited for everyone to hear this and live with it,” Khalid said of the new release. Alongside the album release, Khalid shows off his nimble footwork in the new music video for “Present,” The new video boasts an aesthetic that feels both regal and cozy. In the clip, Khalid croons the song as a group of dancers creates a perfect still-life tableau behind him, while later on, the singer joins the group in some lively choreography that complements the classic R&B vibes; of “Present.” “I’m in album mode,” he shared. “I’m zoning in on my creativity. I feel like I’m taking it back to the basics; writing the album how I approached American Teen and American Teen is so special to me. I feel that same sort of inspiration I felt when I first started creating. I feel like a little kid again.” Khalid has released a handful of one-off singles this year, including “Otra Noche Sin Ti” with J Balvin, “Working” with Tate McRae, and “New Normal.” In November, he also teamed with Mariah Carey and Kirk Franklin for a new holiday song, “Fall in Love at Christmas.” Khalid hasn’t released a project since his sophomore LP "Free Spirit" in 2019. His third full-length is expected to come about five years after his breakout debut, "American Teen."
