NEW ALBUM: LEON BRIDGES: GOLD-DIGGERS SOUND (DELUXE EDITION)

Leon Bridges has released a new deluxe edition of his 2021 record "Gold-Diggers Sound." The original album, released in July, featured 11 songs, including collaborations with Terrace Martin and Robert Glasper. Featured on the album's deluxe edition is a new collaboration with Jazmine Sullivan called “Summer Rain.” The track is produced by King Garbage (the duo of Zach Cooper and Vic DiMotsis), Nate Mercereau, and Ricky Reed. Jazmine Sullivan began 2021 with Heaux Tales, followed by a duet of “The Star-Spangled Banner” with Eric Church at Super Bowl LV. She has recently worked with Curtis Harding on “Our Love” and Rick Ross on “Outlawz.” "Summer Rain" opens to the laid-back pulse of close-miked drums and the gentle slide of an easeful chord progression played on a softly-strummed acoustic guitar. As these velvet-lined textures give way to Bridges’ smokey vocals, we hear his words blend in a thick mix of overdubs as he sings of the burgeoning chemistry between two would-be lovers. With the second verse, Jasmine Sullivan enters the fold, bringing a gospel-infused vocal virtuosity that has rightly made her the modern queen of R&B. "Gold-Diggers Sound" sees Leon Bridges join forces with producers Ricky Reed and Nate Mercereau. Together, they have created a record that stays true to the classic R&B sound Bridges explored in his 2015 debut "Coming Home" while embracing a range of psychedelic and nu-soul influences.
