NEW ALBUM: SAM TOMPKINS | WHO DO YOU PRAY TO?

The musical renaissance continues from across the pond with the 23-year-old singer and songwriter Sam Tompkins, the freshest of emerging acts. Tompkins was born and raised in Eastbourne, where he was influenced from an early age by artists ranging from Justin Timberlake to Ray Charles and even the man himself, Drake. Sam Tompkins has now dropped his new EP, "Who Do You Pray To?" The collection comes with a new track, "My Brother," Sam explains: “‘My Brother is really special to me. I love it so much. The origin of it is a sad but lovely story. When I was about 18, we lost our Nana, and at the funeral, we had to read the eulogy. I got about six words in before being in floods of tears; my brother read the rest and was so strong. Flash forward to last year when my Papa (Grandpa) passed away, and I decided to do the eulogy. Sadly because of covid, my brother couldn’t make it as he was working away in Canada. This time I got the whole way through it, and I remember getting the text from my brother who watched it through a live stream that I smashed it, and I felt so proud because the only way I was able to do it was knowing I was the exact age my brother had stepped up and been brave five years prior.” The young artist's musical journey began in 2017 when he picked up steam with a few covers that gained recognition. Eventually, it was his cover of Bebe Rexha's "I Got You" that won him an MTV contest for "Cover of the Month," thrusting him into a worldwide spotlight. Sam is set to hit the road with a whole gang of celebrity fans and a bit of a buzz on TikTok with a show at Kentish Town Forum on 8th April.
