R&B singer-songwriter Sevyn Streeter has released the deluxe edition of her sophomore studio album Drunken Wordz Sober Thoughtz, which features six new tracks that she says feels like her "first" record in many ways. "My last album 2017's "Girl Disrupted," although there were songs I loved on it like 'Before I Do,' I honestly feel like it did not get the push it deserved," says Streeter. "There were a lot of things going on with me at my last label, so I don't really feel like this is my sophomore album." Taking her career into her own hands during the pandemic in 2020, Streeter went to work in her home studio writing, recording, and co-directing all the elements of her art, down to the videos and photoshoots. “There was no one there to tell me what to do, so I just did what felt organic to me,” shares Streeter, who also began working on an independent partnership with eOne. While recording "Drunken Wordz Sober Thoughtz" amid the COVID-19 lockdown, Streeter channelled the "range of emotions" she was feeling into the music, including "love, lust, loneliness, heartbreak and anger." Following up her 2017 release "Girl Disrupted," "Drunken Wordz x Sober Thoughtz," featuring Brown, Jeremih, A$AP Ferg, Lucky Daye, and American-Nigerian singer/songwriter Davido, is a multidimensional view of Streeter’s heart and soul. Co-written with friend Melvin “4rest” Moore, each track is one of empowerment, owning one’s sexuality, love, and all its ramifications.
