NEW MUSIC: CHARLI XCX | EVERY RULE

British singer-songwriter Charli XCX – real name Charlotte Aitchison will release her fifth studio, “Crash,” this Friday (March 18). She unveiled a new promotional song, “Every Rule,” which she wrote with A. G. Cook, and Oneohtrix Point Never produced the track from the album. “Straight away we started falling/Conversation never boring,” she sings on the track produced by A.G. Cook and Oneohtrix Point Never. “When your lips brushed up against my skin/All I wanted was to let you in.” (Charli is no stranger to singing about rule-breaking. Remember her “Boom Clap” follow-up, “Break the Rules”?) Since she announced "Crash" last fall, Charli XCX has released a string of singles, including “Good Ones,” “New Shapes,” “Beg for You,” and “Baby.” She performed the latter two tracks during her slot as the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" earlier this month. Next week, Charli XCX will kick off a massive North American tour to support "Crash." In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Charli said of her new album, “The reason making 'Crash' felt so right is because I don’t think people expected me to do that. I always feel most myself when I’m challenging people and maybe sometimes confusing people.” Earlier this year, Charli also released a documentary, "Alone Together," that charts the making of her 2020 quarantine album "How I'm Feeling Now."
