NEW MUSIC: GRACE | SELF-PRESERVATION (EP)

Sydney singer-songwriter GRAACE returns with her second EP, "Self Preservation," via Sony Music Australia. The EP marks a turning point in GRAACE’s career, born out of the contemplation and reflection enforced by lockdown where she realized she no longer felt connected to the music she had been creating and made a move to return to her roots of honest, intimate, more natural songwriting, citing Olivia Rodrigo and Phoebe Bridgers as significant influences. “[It is] the polar opposite to debut EP "Self Sabotage,” she says. “I think my growth in those three years was pretty immense emotionally. I love this EP so much because it's not just about heartbreak; I've finally been able to write about my father and things that are really, really personal.” GRAACE burst onto the scene in 2017 as co-writer and feature vocalist on Hayden James’ “Numb” in 2017. From there, she jetted around the world with Flight Facilities, signed with Sony Music Australia and released her debut EP ‘Self Sabotage’ in 2018. The years following the release of her first EP were intense. “For a long time, I was travelling a lot. I was in the studio with people that I didn’t really know. That’s where the pop music came from because I didn’t feel like I could be very vulnerable with them,” explains Pitts. “They were all really lovely people, but I felt like I was being chucked into a room and then told to write real intense shit that I really believe in. It’s a lot to ask of someone. I wasn’t as connected to my music as I wanted to be.”
