Katy Perry has released an acoustic cover of The Beatles’ starry-eyed 1967 single "All You Need Is Love," which was recorded for a new Gap holiday advertisement. It’s a full-circle moment for Perry, who wrote on Instagram that she used to work at the Gap in Santa Barbara 20 years ago. The long-tenured veteran director Mark Romanek made the Gap commercial, which is at least a little bit meta. It’s Perry rolling out of bed and being chauffeured to the commercial shoot. But in the end, it’s just a commercial. Along those same lines, Perry’s version of “All You Need Is Love” sounds precisely like Katy Perry covering “All You Need Is Love” for a Gap commercial. The singer added that proceeds from the song would benefit the organization Baby2Baby. “Starting today, Gap is donating $1 per @spotify stream of my version of the song featured in the Gap ad — up to USD 100,000 — to support @baby2baby’s mission to provide essentials to children living in poverty across the country,” Perry wrote. Earlier this month, Perry announced she would be part of a Las Vegas residency at new property Resorts World Casino and Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan.
