NEW MUSIC: ROLE MODEL | IF JESUS SAVES, SHE'S MY TYPE

Following previous singles such as "Death Wish" and "Forever & More," Tucker Pillsbury (aka Role Model) is back with another tongue-in-cheek offering. This time, it's his cleverly titled new track "If Jesus Saves, She's My Type." It's a playful new track that comes with the news of his long-awaited debut album "Rx," which is coming on April 8. This comes just before he takes the stage for another debut, performing at Coachella, making a comeback after its two-year hiatus. Role Model said, “I want to make pop music with substance. I think it’s so easy to make these catchy fucking ‘I love you, baby, drive me crazy’ type of songs, but I can’t do that. And so I think the challenge for me is fitting a really visual story into these pop structures.”The song plays with the idea of the many religious parallels in the way some find "God." To Role Model, God is a woman, more specifically the girl he fell in love with during one of the lowest points in his life. In the accompanying video, Pillsbury is a small-town pastor who is convinced he has found God in the shape of a beautiful girl wearing a short denim shirt and hoop earrings. She walks in as a metaphorical Jesus. The 23-year-old height of trials with the coming of age occurred after a life-threatening ski accident in 2017, leaving him isolated and needing an outlet for his emotions. After conceptualizing his debut EP, that same prolonged sadness has served as his muse ever since, slowly but surely getting ground into the songs that have pushed him into the spotlight.
