NEW MUSIC: SAM RYDER | SPACE MAN

Following three sold-out shows at London’s Lafayette, British singer-songwriter Sam Ryder has just released his first single of 2022, "SPACE MAN," available now on all streaming platforms via Parlophone/Elektra Records. Sam has quickly become a reliable name when it comes to releasing songs of depth, honesty and quality and the new single is an exciting taster of what’s to come this year. SPACE MAN’ is richly raw, as Sam describes what the world would be like if he were an astronaut, in the dreamiest sense. His original lyrics are paired perfectly with the gravelly voice that makes Sam Ryder’s music remarkable. Sam Ryder’s bold music is storytelling refracted through a universal lens; it’s reminiscent of Elton John’s work, a bouncy pop anthem full of both fun and deeply personal lyrics. Since the industry spotlight fell on him, the Essex-based singer-songwriter has been making sure he remains true to his art. The meteoric rise was caused by the viral hit ‘Whirlwind’ that was uploaded online without any expectations or anticipation of what was to follow. The voice behind it was utterly new to the premise of where writing a great song might lead him. Even now, he’d tell you that he’s still slowly working it all out, but this new single sounds as fully realized and confident as any in recent memory. When the world was plunged into darkness in 2020, Sam Ryder found his light through music; this led him to post cover versions of his favourite tracks online. Consequently, this was picked up and shared by the likes of Justin Bieber, Sia, and Alicia Keys – just to name a few; from there on in, life changed for the musician.
