Shakira has teamed up with Rauw Alejandro for a new song called “Te Felicito, " accompanied by a music video in which the two artists sing along to the track while dancing like robots in an AI world. Check out the visual—directed by Jaume de la Iguana and filmed in Barcelona. Shakira has been a pop singer, a bachatera, a rocker, a hip hop artist, a disco fan, and now she is hooked on the good wave, that of Rauw Alejandro, the Latin musician with the most nose for success after the already well-known Bad Bunny and J. Balvin. The new song translated into English is "I congratulate you," and it is that mix between disco music and reggaeton that defines the latest work by Rauw Alejandro. The lyrics of “Te Felicito" are simple, without shortcuts: the singer says goodbye to a couple with irony, assuming that she will not change her cynical attitude: “I don't buy that cheap philosophy. / Sorry, I don't ride that bike anymore. / I can't stand two-faced people. / I put my hands to the fire for you /and you treat me like one more of your cravings”. Alejandro doesn't appear until well into the song to rap inflated with autotune, an apology and brag about being macho: "I didn't block you from the networks so you could see the other one in the Mercedes." His vocal participation is not relevant. Still, the musical influence of that electro-funk rhythm is relaxed dance. The song is rabidly commercial, potentially becoming a spring and summer hit. “Te Felicito” follows “Don’t Wait Up,” a track Shakira released last summer that tinkered with futuristic electro-pop production. The Colombian superstar is currently working on her next studio album.
