Ivy League Records release the exciting new single "Breakfast With You" from Melbourne’s Shannen James. "Breakfast With You" sees James taking all her influences and putting them into a blender, resulting in an effortless and catchy indie-pop-meets-country tune with a hook that is impossible not to want to scream at the top of your lungs. To coincide with the release, James has been announced as the primary and only support on Sycco’s upcoming Australian headline tour, playing shows in Sydney, Ballarat, Torquay, Melbourne & Adelaide across March – April. Vibrant and ridiculously fun, on both the video and track, James isn’t afraid to lean right into the playful country inferences that saturate BWY, taking the opportunity to pay homage to some of her favourite pop artists of the 90s – artists like Shania Twain and LeAnn Rimes who James looked up to as a kid. Lyrically, the song is as much about the empowering energy of enjoying your own company as it is a tongue-in-cheek ode to “the ick.” As James sings, “What’s it gonna take, for you to understand? I wanna be alone!” It becomes an anthem for anyone who has been on a terrible date. As an emerging artist who, like so many up-and-coming artists, has had numerous touring and recording setbacks due to COVID, James still managed to put out a highlight track of 2022 via her single "Superstitious."
