SONGS YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS WEEK

TOPIC & BEBE REXHA | CHAIN MY HEART

German DJ, producer and musician Topic has teamed up with Bebe Rexha, a seamless fit for this moody club banger. The track was written by Tobias Topic, Alexander Tidebrink and Petter Tarland. Produced by Tobias Topic and marks the first time Topic and Bebe Rexha has worked together. For Topic, the song is the first collaboration since the 2020 smash hit “Why Do You Lie to Me” with Swedish singer A7S and American rapper Lil Baby. After a run of success in his homeland in Germany, the producer scored his international breakthrough hit with "Breaking Me" feat. Swedish singer A7S, a Top 3 hit last summer that recently topped 1 million UK chart sales, including 120 million streams. Also, for Bebe Rexha, it is the first collaboration since releasing her sophomore album “Better Mistakes.”

JAMES ARTHUR | SEPTEMBER

Singer-songwriter James Arthur has released a brand new single titled "September." The three-time BRIT Award nominee James is set to release his fourth studio album soon, the first since "You" in 2019, but is yet to confirm any details of the forthcoming record. James spoke about his new track, ‘September’ and discussed releasing the single in June rather than September. James said: "It would have made sense to release around September; there would have been a lot more promotional opportunity!” The X Factor winner rose to fame in 2012 and has since gone on to collaborate with some huge artists including Anne-Marie and Rudimental. Since James’ song "Train Wreck" went viral on social media site TikTok last year, half a decade after its initial release. The singer has become a fan of the platform and has amassed over 7 million followers.

GAVIN JAMES | SOBER

Gavin James' unassuming authenticity and songcraft have been the key to unlocking 1.5 billion streams, 6 million monthly listeners at Spotify, and 32 international Platinum or Gold records. If you haven’t yet discovered Gavin, his new single "Sober" is the perfect introduction. It’s a stadium-scaled expression of the kind of sorrowful sentiment that you’d normally keep close to your chest: the ever-relevant young adult experience of wondering whether love is fuelled by intoxication or if there’s something more substantial to hold onto. Gavin says, “Sober" is a song about being in love with someone, and then in the morning they all of a sudden don’t love you back. It’s pretty much about the sobering reality that you are not for them, and you’re left alone replaying the relationship in your head ... so you’re sad about it, and you sing it real loud with a piano."

FRANKIE | DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE AM STILL YOUR GIRL

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter FRANKIE just released the breakup song titled "Don't Look At Me Like Am Still Your Girl" that you’ll be bopping to all summer long. “Don’t Look At Me Like I’m Still Your Girl. is the needed a breakup song on the EP,” Frankie wrote on Instagram while teasing the song earlier this month. Frankie has already released four songs from the new EP – “The Catch,” “The Hard Way,” “Almost Famous,” and “Home Alone.” Teaming up with her long-time friend Petros to produce the EP, the pair created a unique sound that isn’t afraid to make pop music quirky and instrumentally eclectic. You can currently catch FRANKIE performing around LA and in other cities on tour. Frankie released her debut EP in 2015 titled "Dreamstate," and Taylor Swift tweeted an image of a list titled "New Songs That Will Make Your Life More Awesome," with Frankie's "New Obsession" one of the eleven featured on the list.

CALUM SCOTT | BIBLICAL

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Calum Scott has released his soulful new single "Biblical" from his sophomore album of the same name. This marks Scott’s first original release since his debut record "Only Human," which sold more than 3.6 million in adjusted album sales and amassed over 7.5 billion streams. The track is a sweet, passionate love song, but it seems that the way Calum Scott brings the topic of love into his songs has never been boring and always has an irresistible attraction to fans. In a statement, Scott said: “While I know the word "biblical" has spiritual connotations to many, Biblical to me is about unquantifiable love, a love beyond description or measure, a love of biblical proportions that transcends everyone and everything. In the video for "Biblical," directed by UK duo Franklin & Marchetta, Scott sits alone in a desolate room. At the same time, a ballet dancer, violinist and bride and groom can be seen underwater in an enchanted, alternate reality.

KELSEA BALLERINI & LANY | I QUIT DRINKING

Kelsea Ballerini and Nashville-based pop group LANY have officially released the emotional duet “I Quit Drinking” just a day after unveiling it at the 2021 CMT Music Awards. With a blend of country heartbreak and sweeping pop sonics, the mid-tempo is all about the hangover of a failed relationship, with Ballerini and LANY frontman Paul Klein mixing a top-shelf vocal cocktail. The track was written by Ballerini and Klein with Nicolle Galyon. Kelsea has recently collaborated both with pop acts and country legends — Shania Twain, Kenny Chesney and Halsey, to name a few — and she says she’s continuing to enjoy finding common ground with other artists. In addition, Kelsea Ballerini took home a CMT Award for "Performance of The Year" for her 2020 CMT Music Awards Performance with Halsey for "The Other Girl." LANY is a Nashville-based alt-pop trio comprised of Paul Klein, Les Priest, and Jake Goss. Their new album "Mama’s Boy" (Deluxe) is out now.
