SONGS YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS WEEK

NATALIE IMBRUGLIA | BUILD IT BETTER

Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia is back in a big way, marking her return to music with the announcement of her first album in six years, titled "Firebird." Imbruglia shared the news of the forthcoming project on her social media along with the first single, ‘Build It Better,’ two years after signing with Sony BMG and hinting at new material. In a press statement, the Australian-born beauty with Italian heritage revealed her latest song is about "surrendering to the chaos and seeing what’s on the other side of it is a good life lesson." The song, which she wrote amid the Coronavirus lockdown in 2020, is an upbeat track that empowers fans to stay positive amid dire times.

KSI | HOLIDAY

YouTuber-turned-artist KSI has accompanied the release of his latest single, “Holiday,” along with a fresh set of visuals. Co-written by award-winning producer and songwriter Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith, One Direction), the super chill, soulful/pop-inspired slow jam showcases an altogether new side to "Patience" singer. It is set to appear as a surprise bonus track on his upcoming second studio album All Over The Place, which arrives on July 16th via BMG/RBC Records. This bonus track from KSI comes ahead of the release of his sophomore album, "All Over The Place," which is out July 16th with collaborations alongside 21 Savage, Future, Lil Durk and more.

GIA WOODS | ENOUGH OF YOU

The Persian pop artist has definitely been busing whilst in lockdown; her latest single, "Enough Of You," is the new tune on everyone's lips. She began her career in 2015 and immediately stood out with her first single, Only A Girl, which was highly regarded. She continued the following year with "Heart Won't Forget," featuring Matoma. The title has more than 30M listens on Spotify. Very quickly perceived as a rising star of the pop scene, she was then supported by major media such as Billboard or V Magazine. This comes as the follow-up to her first EP entitled "Cut Season," released in 2020.

THE VERONICAS | GOODBYE

Following the release of their "Godzilla" record last month, The Veronicas have returned with a new taste of its fast-approaching follow-up, "Human." The new song titled "Goodbye" is a notably open-hearted cut from the Origliasso sisters, touching on themes of self-destruction and holding back from pursuing a lover in fear that the song’s protagonist will destroy their relationship. As their long-delayed fifth studio album, ‘Human’ is scheduled for release on June 25 via Sony. ‘Goodbye’ is the fifth single to be released from it, following ‘On Your Side,’ ‘Think Of Me,’ ‘The Life Of The Party’ (featuring Allday) and "Biting My Tongue." The LP serves as a sequel to "Godzilla," which The Veronicas dropped on May 28.

LEON BRIDGES | WHY DON'T YOU TOUCH ME

Leon Bridges has released a new single, “Why Don’t You Touch Me,” off his forthcoming LP "Gold-Diggers Sound," which is out July 23 via Columbia Records. The first video is out now, and a second portion of the video is set to release on June 24. The video showcases an intertwining narrative of three people working through a souring relationship, set in a surrealist version of Gold Diggers, the real-life hotel/recording studio that inspired. The new album is a follow-up to 2018’s "Good Things." It includes the single “Sweeter” with Terrace Martin, which Bridges released last year following the murder of George Floyd, as well as the recent single “Motorbike.”

CHLOE | FEELING GOOD

Chlöe (of Chloe x Halle) has dipped her toe in the solo pool in the spirit of Juneteenth. In celebration of Black pride and freedom, the multi-hyphenate reimagined Nina Simone’s 1965 version of “Feeling Good” for the "Liberated / Music For The Movement Vol. 3" EP. Chlöe is no stranger to remaking the immortal tune at various times, with the most recent in 2017 alongside her sister Halle at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards. This is the third volume in Disney’s four-part series of EPs honouring Black lives and social justice under a joint venture between Disney Music Group and The Undefeated, ESPN’s platform for exploring the intersections of race, sports and culture.
