With over 400 million streams on Spotify alone and seven No. 1 albums in his home country, Sweden’s king of pop Darin has returned with his first English song in seven years. Today we get a video treatment for his single “Can’t Stay Away.” directed by James Velasquez. Written with and produced by the hitmaker behind Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s banger “Rain On Me,” BURNS, and co-written with Jamie Hartman, who also penned Calvin Harris and Rag’n’Bone Man’s “Giant.”
Darin said: “This video is colourful, chic, queer, and there’s quite a lot of dancing! It felt liberating for me to shoot the video. I noticed how much freer I felt in how I expressed myself, which makes me happy and excited. Hopefully, that energy will spread to others when they hear and see it.”The uplifting, disco-inspired bop marks the beginning of a new chapter for Darin. Last summer, he came out as gay on Instagram and admitted he feels freer than ever.
